Internet Based Vendor List and Bidding System

On 2/15/2000, the City of Ormond Beach began using the services of DemandStar.com (which was later incorporated in to DemandStar by Onvia) to maintain the City’s vendor database and issue Invitations to Bid (ITB) and Requests for Proposals (RFP).  Vendors and suppliers wishing to remain on, or be added to, the City’s Vendor Database and obtain up-to-the-minute information regarding the City’s ITB’s and RFP’s are strongly encouraged to sign up with DemandStar by Onvia.

 

While there is no charge to register your business with DemandStar by Onvia for their basic membership, there is a nominal yearly subscription fee for obtaining their full line of services, which includes automatic notification of ITB and RFP opportunities and free downloads of ITB and RFP documents.  With a basic membership, you will be able to freely view ITB and RFP details on their website and you will be able to download ITB and RFP documents for a small, per-document fee.  You can also request that the bid documents be mailed directly to you. You can access bidding and proposal information around the clock - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Subscribing members receive added benefits.  When you subscribe to DemandStar by Onvia, you select your business/commodity categories and are automatically informed of opportunities relevant to your company’s business. You are immediately sent notification of bid, proposal and quote opportunities (via your choice of fax or e-mail) when such opportunities are announced by the City of Ormond Beach or by other participating governmental agencies.  In addition, subscribing members may download an unlimited number of ITB and RFP documents at no cost.

 

DemandStar by Onvia offers several subscription choices to vendor/suppliers.  You may sign up to receive bid proposal and quote notifications from participating governmental agencies within a particular county, within a group of counties, within a single state or within a group of states.  The yearly subscription fee is based on the geographical area the vendor signs up for.  For complete details visit the DemandStar by Onvia website at www.demandstar.com or phone them at (800) 711-1712.

Participation in the DemandStar System 

is not Required

Participation in the DemandStar by Onvia system is not a requirement for doing business with the City of Ormond Beach.  However, by choosing to subscribe with DemandStar by Onvia, you will receive automatic notification of all bid and quote opportunities as offered by the City of Ormond Beach and other participating governmental agencies.

Bid and Quotation information will still be available, at no cost, by utilizing the following methods:

  • A legal ad will appear in the local newspaper with the ITB/RFP information, typically on Sundays.  

  • All ITB /RFP information will be listed on the City of Ormond Beach’s Purchasing Website.

If you decide not to subscribe to the full services offered by DemandStar by Onvia, you can still download ITB and RFP specifications from DemandStar by registering for their basic membership service and paying a fee of $5 for each specification downloaded. After paying the download fee, all related addendums and/or bid tabulations may be downloaded at no additional cost. Subscribing members can download unlimited documents for free. 

 

Hard copies of the bidding documents may be ordered directly from DemandStar by calling (800) 711-1712. You will be  charged a nominal fee to cover the cost of copying, handling and shipping.

Ready for the Future

Although this change in business practice may be relatively new to the City of Ormond Beach, it is the direction in which many governmental purchasing departments are moving.  DemandStar is providing these services to numerous governmental agencies throughout the state of Florida and in several other states.
