The
Ormond Beach Police Dept. Victim Advocate Program began with funding from the
VOCA (Victims Of Crime Act) Grant in May 2001.
It's purpose then and now is to provide aid and support to victims of
crimes and other emergencies. Advocates,
both paid and volunteer, serve as a liaison between the victim, the judicial
system and a wide variety of social support services.
Advocates assist in crisis intervention, death notification, and crimes
against children and the elderly as well as providing assistance to sexual
battery victims and victims of domestic violence. Victim
Advocate services are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
On-call services are provided 24-hours-a-day, 7-days-a-week. The Victim
Advocate program provides assistance in filling out all forms for injunctions,
victim impact statements, and crime victim compensation forms. In addition,
emotional and personal support is provided during medical, criminal justice or
law enforcement procedures. The
Victim Advocate Program also serves as a resource and referral network for
various forms of counseling, emergency needs assistance, substance abuse
problems, and as a resource for parents having problems with their children.
The Victim Advocate Program is always willing to assist victims whenever
possible. To access services or obtain more information, feel free to stop by
the Ormond Beach Police Department or call (386) 676-3529.
