The Utilities Division of Public Works includes the following: Water Production Program Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all equipment associated with the City's water system. The city operates five water well fields, the 8 million gallon per day treatment plant, two elevated water storage tanks, two ground level storage tanks, and five water service pumping stations.
Water Distribution Program Responsible for distributing and average of 5 million gallons per day of water to 23,000 accounts, through approximately 200 miles of pipe and 1,400 fire hydrants. This program also is responsible for all water meters installations, enforcement of the water cross connection control program per City Ordinance Section 22-12, and responds to customer requests for assistance and any repairs necessary to maintain the system.
