The City Attorney is appointed by the City Commission and acts as legal advisor to and counselor for the city and all of its officers and boards in matters relating to their official duties.
In addition, the City Attorney and his staff prepare all resolutions and ordinances for adoption by the City Commission, as well as all contracts, bonds and other legal instruments of the city.
Upon request by the City Commission, the City Attorney prosecutes and defends on behalf of the city all complaints, suits and controversies in which the city is a party.
