The Facilities Maintenance Division of Public Works includes these programs:
Building Maintenance A support service function of City government that provides repair and maintenance services for 42 City buildings, including contract janitorial and electrical repair services, as well as one-time building and minor renovation projects when it is less costly than using an outside contractor. In addition, building maintenance personnel are responsible for the maintenance and repair of the City's airport runway and taxi way lighting systems.
Parks and Grounds Maintenance This program handles grounds maintenance, mowing and general beautification of all City parks, including grass mowing, flower bed and shrub maintenance, trash collection and maintenance of the medians along A1A and State Road 40. With the exception of the Memorial Art Gardens, all parks and grounds maintenance is performed on a contract basis.
Contract right of way mowing and in-house tree trimming operations that were included in the Parks and Grounds Maintenance budget in FY 95-96 and prior fiscal years, has been shifted to the Streets and Roadside Maintenance budget beginning with the 96-97 Fiscal Year.
