Troy Kent, City Commissioner for Zone 2, was first elected in November, 2003. Born and raised in Ormond Beach, Commissioner Kent is a graduate of Seabreeze High School.

He earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from the University of Central Florida in Orlando, and a master’s degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, based in Fort Lauderdale. He works as a fifth-grade teacher at Pathways Elementary School in Ormond Beach.

Commissioner Kent serves as the City Commission's alternate member to the Board of the Water Authority of Volusia (WAV). He is also a board member of Ormond Main Street and a Community Tourism Roundtable member with the Ormond Beach Chamber of Commerce.

Commissioner Kent's hobbies include surfing, fishing and tennis.  He and his wife, Heather, were married in June 2005.
