Ed Kelley returned to the City Commission for Zone 3 in March, 2005, after winning a special election to fill the position left by Scott Selis, who had resigned from the City Commission due to health reasons. Previously, Commissioner Kelley had served two terms on the City Commission from 1994 through 1997.

Commissioner Kelley retired in 2001 after a 30-year career with Hawaiian Tropic of Ormond Beach, serving as a sales distributor and president of the company’s European operations. He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Belmont College in Nashville.

In addition to his work on behalf of several local non-profit groups over the years, Commissioner Kelley has served as chairman of the Volusia Water Alliance, the Citizens Advisory Board of the Volusia County Metropolitan Planning Organization, and as an alternate to the city’s Board of Adjustments and Appeals.

A member of the First United Methodist Church, he and his wife, Mary Margaret, have been married for more than 31 years and have two children.
