Ormond Beach firefighters battle a house fireThe Ormond Beach Fire Department provides fire protection, technical rescue, hazardous material response and mitigation and emergency medical services within the city limits of Ormond Beach from four fire stations.

 

The Department is made up of 57 firefighters and three administrative personnel  Among the firefighters, 28 are certified Paramedics and 28 are certified Emergency Medical Technicians.

The department responds to more than 5,000 calls for service each year.  Of those, about 72 percent are for medical emergencies and related health responses. The remaining 1,400-plus calls are fire related. About 8 percent of all calls for service are for structure fires, while 7 percent of all calls are false alarms.

 

The department also develops and presents many educational classes on safety awareness, medical emergency preparedness, fire prevention, residential smoke detector replacement and FIREWISE (linked below).

 

 

The department's Life Safety Services Division provides these major services:

• Review of site plans as part of the City’s site plan review process and construction plan review to ensure fire and life safety code compliance.

• Inspection and code enforcement through inspection of new and existing businesses, other commercial buildings and multi-family residential buildings to ensure compliance withFirefighters with new fire truck near City Hall City and State codes. Approximately 1,800 code inspections within the City of Ormond Beach are conducted annually.

 

Fire Administration, located in City Hall, provides the managerial support, leadership and administrative functions critical to the Fire Department missions in the community. The Administration Division consists of the Fire Chief, Assistant Fire Chief, Office Manager and Office Assistant.
