OMN was established in 1943 as a naval
There are about 170 aircraft based at the airport, with approximately 127,000 annual operations (takeoffs or landings). Owned and operated by the City of Ormond Beach, the airport is designated by the Federal Aviation Administration as a publicly-owned, public-use general aviation facility, and by the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems as a General Aviation (GA) Transport Type (TR) Airport.
The airport has a 1,000-square foot passenger terminal building, with 45 on-airport parking spaces. There are also about 50 tie-downs for the airport's general aviation aircraft. Between the airport's T-hangars and conventional hangars, there are 150 covered parking spaces for aircraft.
Private companies offer aviation management and flight support services. Twelve fixed base operators (FBOs) offer flight training, aircraft maintenance and sales, and charter aircraft services. Flight training by both on-site and offsite air schools account for 80 percent of the annual operations.
Recent improvements to the airport include perimeter security fencing, construction of an air traffic control tower, taxiway construction and rehabilitation, as well as new road construction.
